Butterflies By Blaq Incorporated is a 501c3 non-profit organization, located in NYC, which provides FREE hair replacements & solutions to children, (18 and under) who are experiencing hair-loss due to Cancer treatment therapies, Alopecia and other medical conditions.

Butterflies By Blaq Incorporated is a 501c3 non-profit organization, located in NYC, which provides FREE hair replacements & solutions to children, (18 and under) who are experiencing hair-loss due to Cancer treatment therapies, Alopecia and other medical conditions.
Founded in 2012 by Madame EJ Blackman, and CoFounder, Kaiya Blackman, Butterflies BBI was established to address the needs of children suffering from hair loss due to medical conditions and treatments. Special consideration is given to inner-city children and children of various ethnicities because they are often a group that has been greatly overlooked due to the special needs of their hair. At Butterflies BBI, after application approval, each client will receive individualized customer service and attention because we understand that no two children/situations are alike. And, we provide every client with complete confidentiality. Our goal is to help restore normalcy in addition to promoting a sense of well-being to our clients while they deal with their personal illnesses and conditions. We know that raising the self-esteem of our disadvantaged youth now, can help brighten their futures and we'd like to be given the chance to help lighten their load and Make A Difference.
While receiving services at Butterflies BBI, our clients are given the opportunity to elect to enroll in our Pink Butterflies program which offers self-esteem workshops and confidence building outings annually. We try to do all that we can to promote a healthy lifestyle because, at Butterflies BBI, we truly care about the well-being of our clients and enjoy assisting with this part of their journey.

What makes us different is that we know that life is busy. So to make things a little easier, we come to you!
We make home visits, hospital visits, provide transportation if needed and accept hair donations to make more wigs! We also work around the schedules of all caregivers. So, if Mom, Dad, Grandma or Grandpa has to leave for work a

We make home visits, hospital visits, provide transportation if needed and accept hair donations to make more wigs! We also work around the schedules of all caregivers. So, if Mom, Dad, Grandma or Grandpa has to leave for work at 6am, and will return at 8pm, we can accommodate them with a 5:30am or 8:30 pm visit to complete our application process. Pretty neat!

What this means is that when we receive a request for assistance, we don't just provide our clients with a "one size fits all" wig or replacement. Too often, we've seen girls with wigs that are too long, not age appropriate, low quality and don't match their ethnicity. We are here to change that.

What this means is that when we receive a request for assistance, we don't just provide our clients with a "one size fits all" wig or replacement. Too often, we've seen girls with wigs that are too long, not age appropriate, low quality and don't match their ethnicity. We are here to change that.
What we do at Butterflies BBI is, we match our clients with a look that is similar to their look before their hair loss. This means that little girls with curly or wavy hair can now receive human curly and wavy wigs or hair replacements FREE OF CHARGE! Why is this important? This is important because most children that experience hair loss have self-esteem issues early on that can lead to problems adjusting later in life. Being stripped of your identity and placed in a category that doesn't match your look is like placing a square peg in a round hole. It just doesn't work and if forced, it can shave off some of that child's identity and being, leaving them feeling alone and isolated. Imagine if at 10 years old, you lost your curly hair and were forced to wear a straight wig or hair replacement to school (or vice versa). Would you be able to concentrate on your studies while being teased by other students? You might even consider not going to school in order to prevent the teasing or bullying. We want to eliminate that feeling by helping them feel good about the skin that they are in.
For boys, (and girls in some cases) we are offering team sports hats. Right now we have NY Knicks hats in stock. For other teams, please inquire via our contact form.
